The American Eagle Silver Bullion Coin is the only investment-grade silver bullion coin produced by the U.S. Mint, and whose weight, content and purity are guaranteed by the United States government. Introduced in 1986, these coins are one of the most popular forms of silver bullion.
The obverse also displays the word “LIBERTY”, which arches around the entire upper half of the coin. The date of the coin is under Liberty’s foot and “IN GOD WE TRUST” is to her left.
Designed by John Mercanti, the coin’s reverse depicts a graceful eagle with a shield across its torso. The eagle has an olive branch in its right talon and arrows in its left. “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is on a banner clutched in the bird’s mouth while “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” arches across the top of the coin. Beneath the eagle you will find “1 OZ. FINE SILVER – ONE DOLLAR”. There is an inverted pyramid of 13 stars above the eagle’s head.
The U.S. government’s guarantee of the weight, content and purity of the coin give it an advantage over other silver bullion coins. American Eagle Silver coins are one-ounce and made from 99.9% pure silver bullion, with a small amount of copper added to increase durability. Precious Metals IRA Eligible.
